Leanne Marley Counselling

Meet Leanne

Hello, I'm Leanne.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Finding a counsellor who feels like the right person to support you is an important part of the process. I hope this page gives you a sense of who I am, the values that guide my work and what you can expect from counselling with me.

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor, and at the heart of my work is a simple belief: people are not broken and do not need fixing.

I believe that every person's story deserves to be met with compassion, understanding and without judgement. Our experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, the choices we make and the ways we learn to cope. Sometimes, we become so focused on getting through each day that we lose sight of the person we are underneath the experiences that have shaped us.

I believe that, within a trusting and accepting counselling relationship, we can begin to create space for self-understanding, growth and meaningful change.

Being invited into someone's story is a privilege that I never take for granted. Whether you are sharing something that happened many years ago or something that has only recently begun to affect you, my role is not to tell you what to do or have all the answers.

Instead, I will walk alongside you as we gently explore your experiences, always respecting your choices, your values and what feels important to you.

My own experience of counselling has shown me the value of having a space where you can be listened to, understood and accepted without judgement. This, alongside my professional training, ongoing learning and reflective practice, continues to shape the counsellor I am today.

The values that guide my work

  • Trust
  • Kindness
  • Authenticity
  • Respect
  • Hope

They are more than words to me — they shape how I hope every person feels when they spend time with me: listened to, respected and able to be themselves without feeling they have to hide parts of who they are.

I value quiet moments that allow me to slow down, reflect and reconnect with myself.

I have learned that giving ourselves permission to pause is not something to feel guilty about. Those quieter moments help us process our experiences, reconnect with ourselves and become more present in our lives and relationships.

Whether that is spending time in nature, reading or simply allowing space to be still, I believe caring for ourselves is an important part of caring for others.

My training and professional practice

Ethical, compassionate and professional counselling

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor committed to providing ethical, compassionate and professional counselling.

Alongside my counselling practice, I have experience supporting people who have experienced trauma and difficult life experiences that have affected their sense of self, safety and relationships.

I continue to develop my knowledge and practice through ongoing professional development, clinical supervision and reflective practice, ensuring that I offer counselling that is thoughtful, grounded and responsive to the people I work with.

I work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework, maintaining confidentiality, appropriate professional boundaries and a commitment to providing a respectful and compassionate counselling relationship.

Wondering whether we might work well together?

The counselling relationship is at the heart of the work, so it is okay to take time to consider whether my approach feels supportive for you. A free 15-minute consultation is a gentle way to find out.
